About

It's so good to have you here. Plume Handmades is a handcrafted jewelry collection designed and created by me, Brigid Pickett. I'm a mom of three, a trail runner, & a self-taught silversmith. I've lived across the country with my family for the past handful of years. Born & raised in the Midwest, off to the Colorado Rockies, and then to the Missouri Ozarks. We've lived in rural desert country at the foot of the Huachuca Mountains in southern Arizona, and in the big city just outside of Boston. Now my family & I are putting down roots in Boise, Idaho. I find my inspiration in the open spaces where I have lived and traveled, the mountains and trails where I run, & through the simple beauty found in everyday life.
I began making jewelry as a young girl. I have sweet memories of stringing Czech seed beads on fishing swivels to make bracelets with my mom and aunt. I frequented our local bead shop while growing up and my mom could always count on receiving a piece of handmade jewelry for her Christmas gift. As an adult I learned how to weave Japanese glass seed beads into earrings. Now I have taken a dive into working with metal—which is a craft I've always dreamt of learning, but never imagined I'd find the time for, or could make a living from. Thanks to an online metal smithing class teaching me how to make a ring, & a whole lot of trial & error, I have learned through dedicated repetition & practice. There are missteps and there are strides, but each day I remind myself that beauty is in the process.
My jewelry is thoughtfully and delicately crafted using primarily recycled sterling silver and high quality stones. I work in my backyard studio shed, nestled between a pine tree & my garden bed. Each piece is slowly crafted with immense care, patience, & attention to detail. No two pieces are exactly alike.
